This two-semester course will give students the skills they need to craft accurate statements and identify flawed arguments in editorials, commercials, newspapers, journals, and their own speech and writing. They will learn 28 logical fallacies as we make practical applications of those fallacies to student life, advertisements, political speech, and various ethical and philosophical debates. They will also learn dozens of rhetorical devices and practice using those devices through in-class exercises and essay assignments.
