7th-Grade English Literature and Composition includes the study of grammar, usage, spelling, written composition, public speaking, literature, and vocabulary. Students will read and analyze a broad range of fiction and nonfiction and will learn to express their own views through various written assignments including arguments, informative essays, narratives, and literary analyses. We will explore plot, conflict, setting, point of view, theme, mood, tone, and style while reading a wide variety of short stories, plays, poems, novels, legends, and biographies. Written work will focus on development of ideas, organization, style, and MLA format. Students will practice grade-level grammar and usage concepts through online exercises.

Meets 55 minutes per week for two semesters.
