World History covers several centuries of history from the mid-1700s to the present, beginning with the transition in European systems of governance from divine monarchy to a modern definition of a nation-state organized around principles of the Enlightenment. Throughout the course, we will consider the fundamental changes of each era and explore the connections between historical events and larger social, economic, and political trends.
